We make this policy publicly known and clear on this website so that all parties understand. If you make a deposit on a hunt and you have to cancel you lose your deposit and any other money paid to date. However it is our policy that if you make deposit on a hunt and then have to cancel and we are able to book a replacement hunter at the regular hunt cost we will refund or roll your deposit to a future hunt, which is at our discretion depending on the hunt you have booked. Please note that some states have license restrictions that prevent this after license deadlines have past.
Deposits are money paid to reserve your hunt dates. When you have a deposit paid you own those hunt dates and we cannot sell them to anyone else. We are not holding these funds for you to decide what to do later or so that you can ask for them back. When you pay a deposit on a hunt you need to consider it non-refundable and that you pay these funds to secure your hunting trip.
If you are worried that you could get sick and have to cancel the trip then we suggest buying trip insurance. There are special insurance companies that offer policies specifically for hunting trips.
We look forward to having every one of you in the field for an exciting hunt. Please call us if you have any questions regarding our Cancellation & Refund Policy.

The temperatures in Colorado fluctuate daily. It may be anywhere from 70 degrees during the day to below freezing during the night. Bring a layering system that will allow you to be comfortable at any temperature. In case of snow or rain, a rain layer will keep the hunter dry and will help cut the wind. There is lots of good clothing companies in the hunting industry today, and a good layering system is fairly easy to find. Bring plenty of clothes because here in Colorado the weather could change from day to day and having a system for each extreme is a must.
Our guides wear a boot that supports the foot and above the ankle. We walk on rocky faces, steep mountain slopes, and sage flats. A waterproof boot or shoe is a must. In the early seasons we recommend an uninsulated boot, although as temperatures begin to drop in the later seasons an insulated boot would be a good choice. There are many boot manufacturers with high quality products. We recommend going over to the GoHUNT website and looking over there boot varieties as they test and label everything so you don't have to. Don't let your hunt be ruined because of bad footwear.
If coming on a rifle hunt we recommend bringing a rifle that is zero'd in at 100-200 yards. You should be comfortable shooting out to 500 yards. If archery hunting you should feel comfortable shooting anywhere from 10-80 yards. Muzzleloader shots could range from 10-150 yards.
For details on the legal use of weapons please refer to the Colorado Parks & Wildlife Rules and Regulations, which can be found at the Colorado Parks & Wildlife link below.
Higher quality weapons increase the chance of a successful hunt. We highly recommend bringing at least one box of ammunition. Upon arrival all weapons will be checked for accuracy.
Western hunting demands high quality optics and will improve your odds in the field tremendously. Hill Guides & Outfitters believe that time behind the glass is a must. Rangefinders are highly recommended and used by all guides. We recommend the following brands- Swarovski, Leica, Zeiss, and Kowa, as we believe they are the best in the industry.
Hill Guides & Outfitters own various gadgets and gear to assist in your hunt. Please feel free to bring any other gear you find useful.
